Healthy Bodies, Happy Me!
This week, our children explored how to keep their bodies healthy through physical activity, personal hygiene, healthy eating and everyday routines.
We had lots of fun learning about germs and why washing our hands is so important. Using glitter and paint to represent germs, the children discovered how easily germs can spread and practised washing them away.
Our little helpers also enjoyed washing dolls, cleaning toys and giving them a good scrub! These hands-on activities encouraged independence, responsibility and an understanding of personal hygiene.
We explored healthy food choices through sorting activities and discussions about foods that help our bodies grow strong. The children also had opportunities to develop their independence through simple food preparation.
Keeping active was another important part of our week! Through running, jumping, throwing balls and exploring obstacle courses with hoops, stepping stones and tunnels, the children developed their balance, coordination and confidence.
We also enjoyed creative activities, including making colourful monster faces and decorating wellington boots, supporting fine motor skills and creativity.
What did we learn?
Through play, exploration and practical experiences, the children developed their understanding of how exercise, healthy food and good hygiene help us stay healthy and strong. These activities supported key areas of the EYFS, particularly Physical Development, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language, and Understanding the World.
Learning Together at Home
You can continue our learning by encouraging your child to wash their hands independently, help wash their toys, choose healthy snacks and enjoy active play outdoors.
Healthy habits start with little hands and everyday routines!
